Dear SEES Families,

     Happy New Year! We hope that you and your loved ones had a safe and happy holiday season.   As we close 2020 with a much stronger understanding of flexibility and perseverance, we roll right into 2021 continuing with this theme!  On December 29th, our school district sent out messaging regarding the return to school for all grade levels.  Please continue to read the emails sent from our school and correspondence provided from our teachers.  Here are some important updates:

 All students return to learning tomorrow,Monday, January 11th @8:30.

  • Our TK - 5 hybrid students will have remote learning until January 22nd.  The schedule will revert back to the times that students attended school before in-person instruction began. Please look for email communication from your child’s teacher on the new schedule.  Instruction begins daily at 8:30 and all students will attend on-line learning each day.

  • If students are unable to attend class, please report their absence by calling our attendance line at 760.290.2600 or emailing gretchen.jackson@smusd.org.

  • There will be a special board meeting on Monday, January 11th @ 6pm to continue the discussion about current school closures and reopening.

Child Nutrition Services

On Monday, January 11th, CNS will resume meal distribution from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on a daily basis at the 9 current drive-thru meal distribution sites: Carrillo Elementary, Joli Ann Elementary, La Mirada Academy, San Marcos Elementary, Richland Elementary, San Elijo Middle School, San Marcos Middle School, Mission Hills High School, and San Marcos High School. The closest meal pick-up for SEES will be at San Elijo Middle School. There will be NO meal pick-up at SEES.  Parents or guardians can pick up meals for their children at any meal distribution location, regardless of the school where their child is enrolled. 


PTO (Yearbook and Talent Show Information)

Hello SEES Parents! This is your SEES Yearbook coordinator! I will start putting pages together for our Yearbook this coming week and I need your help. Here are some of the pictures I need:

  • First day back to school (virtual and/or in-person) Virtually together (pictures with your friends) 

  • Pajama Days Halloween (wearing their costumes) 

  • Holiday (Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year, etc) 

  • Picture with your pet 

  • Picture of a talent (playing the piano, drawing, etc) 

  • Sports picture (skateboard, surfing, etc) > 

  • Portraits (for class section of yearbook): Student portraits taken outside of school can be submitted for print in the Yearbook.Portraits submitted must adhere to the following guidelines: Pictures must be titled “Full Last Name + Full First Name + Grade + Teacher’s name” Portraits must be a close-up from the waist or chest up; no full-body portraits The student’s whole face must be facing the camera; no profile shots Backgrounds should be plain and not detract from the student; if the student is next to a tree, brick wall, or other item, the focus should be the student’s face No hands obscuring parts of a student’s face No props, pets, or other faces

For 5th Graders only: Please submit a baby or childhood picture of your 5th grader.

SEES PTO is looking for performers and artists, so let’s see what you’ve got! 

Virtual Talent Show Friday, February 19th 7:30pm 

You will need to submit a video or picture showcasing your special talent. All videos & pictures will be compiled and edited into a final  product showcasing all our performers, on the evening of February 19th. 

Further details on this event coming to you this week via email and social media.

We can’t wait to see you shine, so start preparing and rehearsing!

Our school office will be closed to the public until January 25th.  There will be material pick-up on Monday, January 11th and teachers will let their students know if there is a need to pick-up anything for their class. We look forward to having our students back on campus soon - stay safe!
