Principal's Newsletter 10/24/22

Dear San Elijo Elementary Families,

We wish a Happy Diwali to all our families who celebrate!

Student Council Spooky Gram Sales This Week

Student Council will be selling Spooky Grams for $1 each before school Monday-Wednesday next week in front of MPR. If you have a younger child, write down the recipient's first and last name and the teacher's name on a piece of paper to ensure they end up with the right person.

Red Ribbon Week!

This week, we will focus on a Healthy Lifestyle at SEES in honor of Red Ribbon Week!  Please click here for the flier and read below for the details of each day.

Monday 10/24 - Choose Health- Wear Red

Students and staff will write one healthy pledge/goal to themselves on a strip of paper, and we will make one giant chain to put on the fence of our SEES Eagle pledges.

Tuesday 10/25 - Keep the Peace - Wear Tie Dye

Do something kind for someone!  (Write a note to someone or complete random acts of kindness around SEES).

Wednesday 10/26 - Future so Bright - Wear Neon and Sunglasses (SCREEN FREE DAY)

School Wide Screen Free Day!

**Although screens/technology (tablets, phones, computers, TV, etc.) have become integral to how we work and communicate, and we appreciate all of the benefits that come with it, it is essential to promote a healthy balance by limiting screen time and spending time off the screens when we can. Some people, including children, can become addicted to online gaming, so making students aware of the dangers of spending unlimited time online is crucial. To promote a healthy balance, we invite all students and adults to one day of no screen time in and outside the classroom and encourage activities that do not involve a computer, Chromebook, iPad, or phone! Teachers will adjust instruction for the day and reduce the expected iReady minutes for the week. We invite you to continue this optional pledge at home as well!

Thursday 10/27 - Thrively Thursday - Wear something that makes you happy!

Promote ways we can pay attention and take care of ourselves, such as reducing unneeded stress and anxiety. Participate in a mindful minute (schoolwide).

Friday 10/28 - We are a Healthy Community - SEES Spirit Day

Celebrate a healthy lifestyle with extra physical activity throughout the day!  Students and staff will be encouraged to walk the sensory path, run a lap, shoot hoops, walk through the garden, breathe fresh air, etc.

**We also have a Flag Salute and Awards @ 8:50 am (all parents are invited) with special guests from San Marcos High School.

Flag Salute followed by Chat with the Principal.

All parents are invited to attend our monthly flag salute this Friday at 8:50 am. After the Flag Salute (around 9:30), your admin team will host a “Parent Chat with the Principal,” also open to all SEES parents. We will provide a brief overview of our safety plan and share our recent efforts to ensure our campus is safe and secure for all. We will also open the floor to any questions, concerns, and suggestions you may have. We hope this will promote better two-way communication and provide more in-depth information for families on important topics throughout the school year.

We hope you can make it!

Monster Bash, Thank You
