By the END of 3rd grade students will be able to write (using the writing process of prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing) complete 3 paragraphs around a central idea.  

3 Genres of Writing

In all writing, students will use correct English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

Demonstrate capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.  Use grade-appropriate vocabulary and topic-specific words and phrases.

Opinion pieces that support a point of view with reasons.

Informative paragraphs to examine a topic.

Narrative pieces to develop real or imagined experiences.
