Dear SEES Families,

Thank you to those of you who were able to join us on Friday for Flag Salute and Coffee with the Principal.  I would like to continue to make myself available to you on a monthly basis so you have the opportunity to continue to provide ongoing input. Next month I will plan for an evening time so as to accommodate those of you who are unable to attend in the morning.

International Walk to School Day is on Wednesday, October 2nd.  Our wonderful PTO has arranged for our local fire and police departments to be at school to welcome our families who have walked to school.  If you and your students are interested in walking with me, I will be at the fountain in the town square at 8:00 a.m. If your student is in grades K-3, please plan to walk with us for safety and supervision purposes.  We will leave the fountain to walk to school around 8:10. I look forward to walking with you!

Through your generous donations and the collective efforts of our student council, we were able to raise $325.35 for the American Red Cross.  The money will go to the victims of Hurricane Dorian. We were also presented with a $5,000 check from The San Marcos Promise to help support additional innovation opportunities for our students!

The Scholastic Book Fair is right around the corner.  Please check out the website for all the details.  This year we are encouraging parents to sign up for the Scholastic eWallet which is a way for families to go “cashless”.  We are still in need of a few more volunteers for the morning time slots and with packing everything up on Friday afternoon.  If you have some time available, we would love your support!

And finally, our very own Ms. Leena is hosting Habits of the Mind Workshops for families. These workshops will focus on 8 Habits for personal growth and future success. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Warmly,

Emily Parra
