About Me

Mr. McCormick's Family at Disneyland

Hello! I come from a long line of teachers, and it seemed I was destined to join the "family business" since I was a kid! I am a native San Diegan and graduated from Mira Mesa High School. I attended the University of California at Santa Cruz where I majored in American Studies. Go Banana Slugs! I then returned to my hometown of San Diego to receive my teaching credential through National University. I continued on and earned a Master of Education degree specializing in Best Practices. This is my 15th year teaching in San Marcos Unified and my 11th year as a San Elijo Eagle. I love teaching here! My time in this district has given me many opportunities to work with amazing students, families, and faculty. I am very excited for a wonderful fifth grade year!

Mr. McCormick Proposing   Daughters in Dance Costumes   Al Poochino

My wife, Becca, and I have been married for 11 years. We met when we were both teaching at Richland Elementary. I even enlisted the aid of several of our mutual students to help me propose during a very memorable Flag Salute! We live in San Marcos and keep ourselves busy with home improvement projects year round!

I have two daughters - Lorelei (8) and Leah (3). Lorelei is a third grader at Twin Oaks Elementary and Leah is living the life of a wild and crazy preschooler! They are two bundles of energy, and the job of parenting is an exhausting one. However, it is so rewarding to watch as their personalities continue to unfold.

When not at one of the girls' dance activities, we enjoy taking family trips to Disneyland, SeaWorld, the zoo and Safari Park, and the beach. Our 11-year-old lab-shepherd-mix especially likes when we take him along! Formerly Charger fans, we now follow the Minnesota Vikings as both my wife and I have Minnesota roots. Skol!
