Emergency Dismissal Plan

Dear Parents/Guardians:

In case of a school emergency or natural disaster, you need to be aware of our school's disaster/emergency plan and procedures for releasing your child. Our priority is that your child is safe and that we conduct an orderly dismissal of students. Your cooperation and patience will be essential to our plan as we release over 1,000 students. In the event of an emergency, parking will be limited. To avoid interfering with emergency vehicles on our campus, we advise that parents be prepared to park a few blocks away from our school.

Students will only be released to those listed on your child's emergency card with valid photo identification. When you arrive at school you will be directed to the Family Reunion Check-In Area and will be asked to do the following:

1. Sign the Student Release Log and complete a Student Release Form.

2. Give the form to the person at the Check-In Area that will verify I.D. and the emergency card.

3. Wait at the Family Reunion Area until your child has been released to your custody.

If our school has been evacuated, students will be taken to either San Elijo Middle School or San Elijo Park. It may take some time to process the release of your child in these difficult situations, so please be patient and be prepared to wait.

It is imperative that you keep all information on your child's emergency card current. Remember that children will be released only to those listed on the card. Please share this information with everyone listed on the emergency card so they are familiar with our emergency dismissal procedures.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Mara McLeod
Assistant Principal
