STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education is becoming increasingly important as science and technology quickly develops, and impacts the world around us and the way we interact with that world. The STEM program at SEES is meant to introduce your students to the exciting world of design and engineering by giving them opportunities to engage in creative problem solving and critical thinking.
Your students will be collaborating with others while being challenged to use materials in our new STEM lab to build structures, invent solutions to problems, and improve their previous ideas. Students will do this by engaging in the design thinking process, where they will be expected to empathize, define a problem, ideate a solution, build a prototype, and test and reflect on that prototype. By engaging in this process, students will begin to build engineering skills as well as skills in literacy, communication, and problem solving. As we continue to develop this program, we will also incorporate lessons in technology, math, and science to ensure that students are equipped with the skills they need for their future education and careers.
